The Bars: Paddles & Mountains

About the Painting

Coming back to painting after a very long hiatus, I wanted to explore new methods, so I got a little excited about tape as a means of creating precise lines. I began experimenting with background colors, taping methods, and how to reduce cacti down to geometric forms that were still recognizable. This was the third canvas in this series. I experimented here with applying the clouds with varying degrees of transparency by watering down the paint and aggressively pushing it into the canvas. Not quite op-art, this geometric landscape style has been well-received by those who have seen it.From Artist's Statment at Artist
